Speare Medical Associates Announces Name Change to Mid-State Health Center
Plymouth-Effective immediately, Speare Medical Associates’ name becomes Mid-State Health Center. The organization remains under the same ownership and direction with the new name intended to better reflect the broadened focus of the practice. With the recent successful integration of behavioral health services provided by Plymouth Psychology, Mid-State Health Center now offers three office locations. The practice will continue to provide the same quality services in family practice, internal medicine, and psychology while focusing on the long-term needs of the greater community.
The medical team provides care at 20 Highland Street in Plymouth and 859 Lake Street in Bristol. Drs. Ammar Hussieno, John Jehl, Lei Jiang, and Ghaleb Karouni are internal medicine physicians in the Plymouth Office. Drs. Diane Arsenault and Alan Rosen are family medicine physicians in the Plymouth Office, while Drs. Gary Diederich and John Lloyd practice family medicine in the Bristol Office. Other clinicians include family nurse practitioners Anita Reid and Sonia Joslin and Dr. Frederick Kelsey acts as medical director for the group.
Psychologists, Drs. Tamara Pederson and Vincent Scalese continue to practice at 19 Avery St. Plymouth, NH. They have recently been joined by Maura Sullivan, Psy.D. Dr. Vincent Scalese directs the psychology group.
Along with the name change, Mid-State Health Center has adopted a new logo and website: www.MidStateHealth.org. These changes are effective immediately, and all future business activity will be conducted under the Mid-State Health Center name.
Dr. Sullivan completed her undergraduate degree at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. She went on to complete her education at Pacific University School of Professional Psychology in Forest Grove, Oregon. Dr. Sullivan will practice psychology at 19 Avery Street, Plymouth, alongside Dr. Scalese, and Tamara Pederson, Psy.D until a new facility is available to house both medical and behavioral health providers.
With the arrival of new staff, Mid-State Health Center will now be able to provide services on a more timely basis, while continuing to serve the community with quality health care. With the recent merger of Mid-State Health Center and Plymouth Psychology the practice will now be able to coordinate medical and behavioral healthcare.

Dr. Jiang is an internalist who recently joined Mid-State Health Center in Plymouth, NH. Dr. Jiang received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, in Indianapolis, IN and is currently finishing his residency at Advocate Christ Medical Center. He comes to New Hampshire from Illinois and will be accepting new patients mid-September.

Dr. Karouni pursued his undergraduate degree at Lebanese American University located in Beirut, Lebanon. He comes to Mid-State Health Center from Amarillo, TX where he is currently finishing his residency at the Texas Technical University Health Science Center. Dr. Karouni is an internist that treats adults of all ages; he will be accepting new patients mid September.
